About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team at AST Inc. as an Industrial Equipment Specialist. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for assembling industrial machinery according to precise engineering drawings and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assembly and Testing: Assemble industrial machinery, including electrical and mechanical components, according to assembly drawings and procedures.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs as needed.
  • Quality Control: Test machinery to ensure accuracy and quality before shipping to customers.
  • Drilling and Tapping: Drill and tap holes at assembly as required.
  • Documentation: Redline engineered drawings when corrections are required.
  • Organization: Organize fixtures used during assembly and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Operational Support: Drive a forklift and utilize overhead cranes as needed.
  • Project Participation: Participate in project meetings and contribute to the development of procedures to ensure quality and increased productivity.
  • Field Installations: Participate in field installations, as needed.
  • Rework and Maintenance: Occasionally perform rework machining tasks on a manual mill or lathe.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience as a qualified assembly and repair technician.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Manufacturing Environment: Experience in a made-to-order, engineered-to-order manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Quality and Productivity: Quality conscious with the ability to meet productivity goals.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest, and thorough, with good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance, sit or stand continuously for up to 8 hours per day, bend, squat, kneel, and reach out and above shoulders.
  • Travel: Ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 30%.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Background Check: Must be willing to take and successfully pass a drug test.
