At Plastic Recycling Inc., we seek a Plant Manager to guide approximately 15 team members in a manner that cultivates trust, promotes collaboration, and is focused on the personal and professional growth of those you lead. Furthermore, the Plant Manager will be instrumental in driving ongoing enhancements through technical expertise to optimize all manufacturing processes at our facility. Our operations are dedicated to producing high-quality recycled materials from diverse feed streams, preventing waste from entering landfills. Our expanding portfolio positions us to meet the demands of today’s and tomorrow’s circular economy.

PLANT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES

The Plant Manager will provide leadership and direction across all facets of plant operations. This role encompasses the overall development and growth of around 15 team members and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). Additionally, this individual will devise efficiency strategies to meet production objectives while managing expenses. A key aspect of this role is to foster a culture centered on safety, quality, production, and achieving desired outcomes while driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Establish and uphold a culture grounded in safety, transparency, and standardization.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and manage daily operations to surpass customer expectations.
  • Enhance production capacity and flexibility while controlling costs and maintaining superior quality standards.
  • Develop a profound technical understanding of equipment and processes to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Effectively allocate resources and fully utilize assets to achieve optimal results.
  • Monitor operations and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team, Sales, Purchasing, Customer Service, Logistics, Human Resources, Accounting, and Maintenance to establish essential procedures, practices, reports, and communication flows.
  • Oversee facility maintenance needs and develop data tracking to analyze upkeep and repair costs.
  • Ensure that all operational tasks are communicated clearly and executed safely, accurately, and promptly through consistent feedback.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for shipping/receiving, production, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
  • Encourage a team-oriented environment that challenges existing processes and seeks continual improvements.
  • Invest in team member development while identifying and nurturing key traits to enhance leadership capabilities.
  • Manage all aspects of performance development, including discipline and professional growth.
  • Develop the plant budget in alignment with company objectives.
  • Control costs and provide periodic reports to senior management.
  • Ensure machine availability aligns with production forecasts.
  • Lead your team using Corrective Action Plans and root cause analysis to address and improve operational weaknesses.
  • Utilize data analysis to establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for production, quality, inventory, and labor rates.
  • Regularly meet with senior management to assess profitability and quality metrics, developing goals for improvement.
  • Exhibit critical thinking to enhance current processes.
  • Innovate creatively to advance technical capabilities and team talents.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial technology, business management, or a related technical field.
