Blood Specimen Collector

The Blood Specimen Collector performs critical functions to obtain blood samples for medical testing purposes. This role requires precise identification of patients and adherence to established procedures for specimen collection. The collector must accurately document all information from the blood collection process, including time drawn, received, and phlebotomy codes in the laboratory computer system.
In addition to venipunctures, this position also involves collecting chain of custody urine drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident, and just cause cases, following proper collection procedures set forth by NIDA. The collector may be required to pick up samples from nursing units as needed.
This position requires phlebotomy certification and offers a competitive salary of $55,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
