Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Parole and Probation Officer to join our team at the County of Blair. As a Parole and Probation Officer, you will be responsible for supervising a caseload of adult offenders, enforcing court orders and conditions of supervision, and helping offenders adjust to life in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a caseload of adult offenders, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their rehabilitation goals.
  • Enforce court orders and conditions of supervision, ensuring public safety and holding offenders accountable for their actions.
  • Meet with offenders in the office and field, conducting regular check-ins and assessments to monitor their progress.
  • Investigate complaints about offenders, gathering information and making recommendations for action.
  • Help offenders adjust to life in the community, connecting them with resources and services to support their rehabilitation.
  • Prevent future criminal acts and technical violations, working with offenders to develop strategies for success.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare social and legal case histories, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Conduct counseling interviews with assigned offenders, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Refer offenders to appropriate agencies for treatment and other services, ensuring they receive the support they need to succeed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, social work, sociology, psychology, or related field.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a clean record.
  • Self-motivation and flexibility to adapt to unexpected situations.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build rapport with others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Courteous, patient, and professional demeanor.
  • Proficient organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality.
  • Computer literacy.
