Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to serve as a Shift Coordinator in our ICU department. This role requires strong leadership and clinical expertise to ensure the smooth operation of our unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and clinical support to staff members during their shifts.
  • Coordinate unit resources to ensure optimal staffing and patient care.
  • Supervise and assist staff in responding to patient and family complaints, physician concerns, and risk management issues.
  • Respond to patient emergencies and serve as the charge nurse for disasters.
  • Collaborate with the staffing office to adjust staffing levels based on census changes.
  • Communicate with oncoming charge nurses to ensure a smooth transition of care.
  • Support unit management in managing department productivity, staffing, and timekeeping.
  • Perform evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Participate in hospital committees as a unit representative.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Healthcare.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
  • A Registered Nurse with an AS DN degree must complete a BSN degree within four (4) years from the Registered Nurse's date of hire.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification is required.
  • Three years RN nursing experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree of Nursing is preferred.
  • Certification as appropriate for unit or service is preferred.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to:

  • See and read information, labels, and assess patient needs.
  • Operate monitors and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Verbal communicate with patient care providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment.
  • Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
  • Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients.
