At White Plains Hospital Center, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Technician to join our team. As a Nursing Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide patient care and non-patient care functions within the scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Perform tasks such as ADLs, vital signs, I&O, EKGs, documentation, simple dressing changes, specimen collection, and assisting with meals and errands.
- Assist with transporting patients, medications, or specimens, and ambulating patients as needed.
- Provide urinary drainage care, assist with colostomy care, and apply binders as required.
- Assist healthcare providers with procedures and physical exams, and complete other duties as assigned.
- Understand and adhere to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
- Perform tasks listed in the job summary according to policy and procedure.
- Integrate patient rights into work practice.
- Utilize current methods of infection control.
- Participate in Performance Improvement Initiatives.
- Utilize appropriate steps in the decision-making process to include recognition and priority setting related to patient care and unit-based issues.
- Collaborate and communicate with the healthcare team.
- Complete competency requirements.
- Attend mandatory inservices and staff meetings as required.
- Utilize cost containment practices.
- Adhere to all WPHC policies and procedures, including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance, and submission of annual physical.
- High School Diploma/Equivalency.
- Previous experience in a hospital or patient care setting is preferred.
- Successful completion of the Nursing Technician Orientation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required for all Nursing Technicians.
- Excellent Communication Skills (written and verbal).
- Teamwork.
- Adaptability.
- Strong Problem-Solving, Judgment, and Decision-Making Skills.
- Stress Tolerance.
- May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks.
- Must be able to move about the department and hospital constantly while attending to the needs of patients, visitors, and staff.
- Requires continuous communication with patients, staff, and visitors of all educational levels.
- Requires frequent use of computers and other office equipment.
- Must be able to move objects up to 50 pounds and assist with moving patients of all weights with a minimum assist of one or assistive device/equipment.
