Job Summary

The Behavioral Tech III position is a critical role in the efficient functioning of our Inpatient Units. As a key member of our team, you will have primary patient contact and influence patient treatment and progress. This position requires a professional staff member with responsibility for maintaining a secure therapeutic milieu in cooperation with various disciplines, particularly nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with consumer admission, including vital sign taking, bathing, and orienting consumers to the unit.
  • Participate in individual needs assessment, treatment plan formulation, and implementation.
  • Attend treatment team meetings and provide information on consumer adjustment.
  • Learn and apply mental health nursing principles to the daily routine.
  • Observe consumers closely and report pertinent observations, changes in physical signs or symptoms, and emotional behavior.
  • Encourage consumer interaction with staff and participation in social activities.
  • Assist with consumer group and recreational activities.
  • Take vital signs and report significant changes or elevations.
  • Provide physical and emotional support as needed.
  • Encourage maintenance of cleanliness and neatness in living and recreational areas.
  • Carry out assigned duties for consumers requiring more than routine observation and care.
  • Assist with discharge procedures and escort consumers to areas outside the unit.
  • Monitor and prepare meals, ensuring compliance with prescribed diets.
  • Educate individuals in meal preparation according to DCF guidelines.
  • Administer U/A's and conduct waitlists for potential consumers.
  • Ensure proper documentation in the TIER system.
  • Monitor self-administration of medication and report undesirable side effects.
  • Monitor supply needs and notify staff when supplies are low.
  • Run errands and perform other tasks as requested by leadership.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CNA preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in substance abuse and mental health settings required.
  • Desirable to have experience working with psychiatric or co-occurring consumers of all ages.
