Job Overview

Position Purpose and Objectives
Under the guidance of the Supervisor and/or Department Manager, this role involves executing line setups, changeovers, and performing mechanical and electrical repairs on various filling and packaging machinery, including liquid, topical, and powder systems. The technician will also carry out assigned preventive maintenance tasks and document all work performed, including dates, times, and parts utilized in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while maintaining and repairing machinery according to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications. This includes conveyor systems and production equipment, utilizing hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Conduct visual inspections and listen to machinery to identify operational issues.
- Assess the condition of parts to identify defects.
- Measure used components to determine necessary adjustments using tools such as rules, calipers, and micrometers.
- Adjust and repair production machinery as needed.
- Replace defective components using hand and power tools.
- Install specialized parts in machinery.
- Test machinery performance after repairs.
- Lubricate and clean machinery components.
- Operate metalworking tools such as drill presses and grinders for part fabrication and repair.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, performing immediate repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Overhaul existing equipment and install new machinery.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment while performing facility maintenance.
- Generate parts requests to maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Complete assigned work orders and perform production line setups and changeovers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Familiarity with liquid filling, capping, and labeling machinery.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Competence in using a multimeter for testing.
- Skills in diagnosing and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Proficient in using hand tools for machinery repairs.
- Experience with basic power tools and shop equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility
- This position does not include supervisory duties.

Working Conditions
- Collaborates with the Supervisor of Mechanics for daily tasks and provides support to line leaders, quality control, production supervisors, and other management personnel. Work may occur in both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned environments.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, climbing ladders, and working in man lifts.

Minimum Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in a high-speed packaging environment.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge in practical scenarios.
- Strong communication skills.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Willingness to work additional hours on short notice to meet production goals.

Success Factors
- Self-motivated and able to perform well under pressure, with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Flexibility to work both first and second shifts.
