About the Role

G-Research is a leading quantitative research and technology firm, seeking an experienced Compute Windows Engineer to join our team in Dallas. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and enhancing our Windows-based infrastructure, which underpins our platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automate Windows Build and Decommission: Develop and implement automation scripts using tools such as Ansible, Packer, and Jenkins to streamline the build and decommission process.
  • Manage Windows Lifecycle: Oversee the patching and software package deployment of our Windows-based infrastructure using tools such as Microsoft WSUS.
  • Develop Tooling: Create and maintain tooling to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of our Windows infrastructure as part of the wider platform.
  • Manage Remote Desktop Services: Ensure the secure and efficient management of our Microsoft Remote Desktop Services infrastructure.
  • Implement Security Best Practices: Develop and maintain security best practices to protect our Windows-based infrastructure.
  • Maintain Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
Requirements
  • Strong Automation Skills: Proficiency in automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.
  • CI/CD and GitOps Knowledge: Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) and GitOps principles.
  • Microsoft Active Directory Experience: Knowledge of managing Microsoft Active Directory, including core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, and PKI.
  • Virtualization Experience: Experience with virtualization environments, such as VMware vSphere.
  • Monitoring Tooling: Familiarity with monitoring tooling, such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Secret Management: Experience with secret management tools, such as Hashicorp Vault.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues.
