Kleinfelder is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Underwater Inspector to join our team in Augusta, ME, Portland, ME, or Manchester, NH. As a key member of our Construction Services team, you will be responsible for conducting underwater inspections and providing documentation in accordance with NBIS standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor safety, compliance, and productivity to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Facilitate and support the inspection process, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to company standards.
- Manage resources to ensure safety, compliance, and productivity, monitoring workload and rebalancing as needed.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company standards, federal, DOT, and OSHA regulations, and state and local codes and requirements.
- Accurately document work, including reporting, photos, and sketches.
- Participate in field meetings, including pre-inspection meetings, safety meetings, notifications, and daily tailgate meetings.
- Personal vehicle and valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred, with coursework in civil engineering, building inspection, home inspection, construction technology, drafting, and mathematics.
- Preferred certifications: PADI, NAUI, or equivalent advanced diver level certification.
- Preferred but not required: NHI Course 'Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges' or any other NHI or FHWA inspection courses, to be obtained within one year of employment.
- Familiarity with construction standards, work methods, rules for safe operation, and associated procedures.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, planning, organizing, and computer skills.
- Ability to work days or nights, extended workdays, and prolonged workweeks as needed.
- Candidates must be fluent with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Standard equipment for underwater activities includes a full-face mask, regulator, octopus, pressure gauge, dive computer, buoyancy compensator, weight belt, dry suit, hood, gloves, fins, and weight belt.
- All equipment must have a current inspection where applicable, and be serviced and maintained in a readiness status.
