Birmingham, AL: We are seeking an experienced Histotechnician to join our team as a Histology Technician - Diagnostic Laboratory Specialist. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing human body tissue for examination by other laboratory professionals. Key responsibilities include embedding, microtomy, and special stain procedures as directed. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Embed all types of tissue using established protocols and procedures.
  • Section paraffin-embedded tissue with precision and accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to quality control standards.
  • Prepare fresh solutions, stains, and reagents as needed.
  • Perform special stain and IHC procedures under supervision.
  • Assist with case assembly and distribution, filing blocks and slides as necessary.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Contribute to effective department QA programs and documentation.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in histology or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with lab safety protocols and regulatory guidelines essential.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

We offer a comprehensive compensation package, including a salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 per year, based on experience. Additional benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
