Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer I or II to join our Underground Engineering department at our Goldrush operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for independently performing visual inspections of underground mining activities to identify rock hazards, providing recommendations, and monitoring excavation performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visual Inspections and Hazard Identification: Conduct thorough visual inspections of underground mining activities to identify potential rock hazards and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Ground Control and Support: Ensure adherence to Ground Control standards and maintain the ground support QA/QC program, including rockbolt pull-testing and strength testing of shotcrete and backfill.
  • Rock Mechanics and Design: Utilize rock mechanics properties to design ground support as needed, ensuring the safety and stability of underground mining operations.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on geotechnical monitoring data, maintaining accurate databases and providing insights to inform decision-making.
  • Training and Development: Assist with ground control safety training programs, ensuring that team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Project Support: Provide support with geotechnical-related projects, as necessary, and assist with geotechnical mapping underground and core logging for specific drill programs.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Geology.
  • Experience: Previous underground geotechnical experience or internships preferred.
  • Skills: Familiarization with mining software packages (preferably Deswik) preferred, team leadership, problem-solving, and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Availability: Ability to work a rotating schedule of nights and days, including on-call and call-outs as needed.
