About the Role

Island Transit, a municipal corporation providing fare-free public transportation to the residents of Island County, seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management, and administration of Island Transit, ensuring the delivery of reliable, transparent, safe, and service-focused transportation to the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be accountable for the agency's mission and vision.
  • Leading a team of 130 FTEs and 9 PTEs across various departments, including Operations, Maintenance, Finance, Administration, Planning & Outreach, and Information Technology.
  • Ensuring the effective management of an annual budget of $20.9 million and a fleet of over 60 buses.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to enhance the agency's services and improve the overall transportation experience for residents.
  • Collaborating with the Board of Directors and staff to drive innovation and results-oriented leadership.
