About the Role

At Yale New Haven Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Mastectomy Fitting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre and Post-Surgical Fittings: Perform both pre and post-surgical fittings for patients, specializing in the fitting of external breast prostheses, prosthetic nipples, and mastectomy bras, and other mastectomy garments.
  • Patient Education and Support: Provide education to patients, families, and staff regarding processes and support programs related to appearance changes from treatment.
  • Lymphedema Fitting Services: Work towards certification as a mastectomy fitter and provide lymphedema fitting services to patients, including the selection and fit of compression garments.
  • Boutique Mastectomy Fitting Program: Participate in the development and maintenance of the Boutique mastectomy fitting program, including completing vendor required training on cancer and patient products.
  • Inventory and Staff Education: Assist Boutique staff with inventory, price changes, tagging, and receiving, and participate in staff education to ensure physicians and hospital staff are informed on the most current and state-of-the-art DME garments.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma required; Associates Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a hospital and/or outpatient healthcare setting preferred, with experience interacting with cancer patients required.
  • Certification: Mastectomy Fitter Certification from either the Board of Certification (BOC) or the American Board for Certification (ABC) within two years of hire date.
