Blade Repair Services Technician II

RWE Clean Energy, LLC is seeking a skilled Blade Repair Services Technician II to join our internal blade repairs service team. As a critical member of our operations and maintenance team, you will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and inspecting blades to minimize lost production time.
Key Responsibilities- Adhere to the company's values and behaviors as defined by the ONE RWE philosophy
- Ensure safe and consistent operation and maintenance activities, including wearing essential safety equipment and identifying potential hazards
- Climb wind towers and access wind turbines to perform composite repair and maintenance tasks
- Lift, carry, and transport essential equipment, tools, and materials to the job site
- Assist in transportation, setup, and operation of the up-tower blade access mechanism
- Support a team performing platform and ground access composite repairs on multiple turbine manufacturers
- Assist in mobilization of all repair equipment to the site
- Assure proper storage, maintenance, and handling of all Blade Repair Service equipment
- Perform safety and other wind farm-related tasks and act as a backup to personnel at other RWE sites when necessary
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- An associate degree in science or a related field from an accredited school is preferred
- A minimum of 4 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, blade repair, transmission, and distribution
- Experience in project development or adjacent areas within the power sector is an advantage
- Structured and organized, able to manage multiple projects at the same time
- Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and work ethic
- All applicants must pass physical fitness tests to maintain Global Wind Organization Certification
- All applicants must possess an unrestricted driver's license in good standing
- Willing to relocate to within 1 hour drive of the site
- Willing and able to obtain and maintain an RWE-sponsored Commercial Driver License (CDL), if so requested by RWE
- Preferred: GWO Certification
- Understanding of wind turbine blade construction, inspection, and repair, including LPS systems
- Knowledge of fiberglass types
- Demonstrated experience in blade damage assessment and repair
- Experience across multiple manufacturers (i.e. Siemens, GE, Vestas, Nordex)
- Previous Blade Access Platform and rigging experience preferred
- Experience of LEP
- Understanding of composite materials, including (but not limited to), epoxy resins, polyurethane fillers, and paint
- Accurate completion of QA/QC documentation
- Ability to read and understand Engineering Work Instructions
- Must be able to maintain a personal weight limitation of 270 lbs
- Must be able to climb wind towers on a daily basis
- Must be able to balance to work in closed and small swaying areas on top of and within wind towers
- Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work safely in extreme environments
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day
- Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
- Ability to work within tight deadlines
- Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
- Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Identify energy isolation points and implement LOTO for protection
- Knowledge of computer network communication protocol and theory of operation is desired
- Ability to understand and communicate root causes required
- Good communication skills and must value being part of a team
- Safety-Promote safety for all at all times
- Initiative-Able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to his/her discipline(s) with limited and/or available information
This position is a site-based role that involves occasional travel. Must possess the ability to climb wind towers regularly. It involves the capability to manipulate hatch doors and recognize potential safety risks. Additionally, the individual should be able to crouch, kneel, or half-kneel for intervals of up to five minutes to execute maintenance duties in low areas. Travel up to 75%, multiple worksites, hot/cold weather conditions, irregular hours on short notice.
