Job Summary

Pima County, AZ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Psychiatrist to lead our Behavioral Health Clinical Services team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing clinical supervision, developing treatment plans, and ensuring the highest level of care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision to Behavioral Health clinical staff, ensuring adherence to evidence-based correctional medicine and medical standards.
  • Serve as the responsible Psychiatric Medical Director, making final clinical judgments in collaboration with the Behavioral Health clinical staff.
  • Lead the Behavioral Health clinical team and ancillary team members in an interdisciplinary manner, incorporating a holistic wellness approach to patients.
  • Provide overview and follow-up of medication management services to patients of Community Mental Health and Addiction Services.
  • Develop and implement clinical training programs for staff members on various medical and behavioral health subjects.
  • Serve as department liaison with consultants and third-party psychiatric staff.
  • Complete clinical documentation and ensure accuracy and timeliness of filing clinical information.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate and promote quality care.
  • Participate in Serious Adverse Event Reviews as needed.
  • Review prospective out-of-county referrals for restoration services.
  • Attend court hearings as required.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited and approved school of medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Three years of experience practicing in a healthcare environment and three years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • Licensed to practice Psychiatry in the state of Arizona.
  • Minimum three years of experience practicing as a psychiatrist in a healthcare environment.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity in a medical director role or similar position.
  • Minimum three years of experience in psychiatric diagnosing, crisis intervention techniques, treatment of psychiatric/mental health and substance use disorders, treatment planning, prescribing psychotropic medications, and interpreting laboratory tests.
  • Minimum two years of experience in forensic psychology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Certified Correctional Health Professional certification (CCHP) by the National Commission of Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC).
  • Member of the American College of Correctional Physicians or American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.
