Job Summary

The General Practice Dentistry Preceptor is a key member of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) team, responsible for providing clinical education and training to dental students in the General Practice Dentistry program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to dental students in the diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of patient care.
  • Develop and implement curriculum for the General Practice Dentistry program, ensuring alignment with LECOM's educational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in clinical education and general dentistry.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of assessment and evaluation tools to measure student learning outcomes.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from a U.S. dental school.
  • Five (5) years or more of experience practicing general dentistry.
  • Advanced training in a hospital-based dental general practice residency (GPR) program or a dental school-based advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) residency preferred.
  • Current Florida dental license or ability to obtain a Florida dental teaching permit.

  • Teaching experience in dental academia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
