Key Responsibilities

  • The Preoperative Registered Nurse is responsible for addressing the needs of surgical patients by evaluating, planning, and executing preoperative nursing care as well as care prior to discharge or transfer.
  • Nursing duties encompass: conducting nursing admission assessments; preparing patients for the operating room; ensuring a safe and sterile environment; providing preoperative and postoperative education; and monitoring the physiological and psychological conditions of patients as necessary.
  • This role acts as a crucial link between anesthesia, physicians, and the operating room, ensuring seamless integration, coordination, patient advocacy, and the efficient delivery of safety, quality, and services across various patient care settings.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Possession of a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of Minnesota.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required prior to employment.

Completion of the general orientation program at our facility is expected within 90 days of employment.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Recent experience in a perioperative nursing environment, particularly in a preadmission context, is highly desirable.

Compensation

The pay rate for this position is $46.09 per hour.
