Medical Assistant Opportunity at Texas Transplant Physician Group

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Texas Transplant Physician Group. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling and canceling patient appointments
  • Checking-in and checking-out patients
  • Entering charges and payments
  • Answering the telephone
  • Verifying patient insurance and demographics
  • Collection of co-payments/coinsurance and personal balances
  • Performing selected administrative duties and assisting nursing staff
  • May collect patient specimens
  • Takes patient histories and vital signs
  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
  • Gives injections, and applies casts, splints, and dressings, as applicable
  • Prepares and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
  • Assists physician in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals
Additional Responsibilities for Patient Centered Medical Home:
  • Coordinates continuity of patient care with external healthcare organizations and facilities and referrals from the primary care provider to a specialty care provider
  • Participates on a team for data collection, health outcomes reporting, audits and programmatic evaluation related to Patient Centered Medical Home
Requirements:
  • One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting
  • Medical Assistant Certification (NCRMA certification/ABR required) or recent graduation from a Medical Assisting training program with certification within 60 days of employment
