Key Responsibilities
- Assist multiple project engineers in applying various design, engineering, and modeling techniques for transportation and water resource projects for municipal, state, and federal clients.
- Independently manage smaller projects or support senior engineers on larger initiatives.
- Conduct site studies, develop site designs, prepare contract documentation, and create graphic presentations. Generate civil design drawings using BIM/CADD platforms for construction documentation.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations and calculations.
- Create drainage maps and conduct stormwater management facility design calculations and modeling.
- Prepare construction/contract plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Investigate flooding complaints and assist in writing reports and technical memos.
- Support drainage design permitting and conduct water quality assessments and calculations.
- Evaluate floodplain impacts and compensation calculations.
- Conduct bridge hydraulic and scour evaluations and calculations.
- Prepare cost opinions and draft technical documents.
- Support the implementation of infrastructure during the construction phase.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Transportation, or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- EIT certification or the ability to obtain it within 12 months. Candidates without EIT will be designated as Civil Coordinators and are expected to obtain EIT for career advancement.
- Proficiency in MicroStation/AutoCAD is required; experience with Civil 3D, StormCAD, and Open Roads Designer is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to completing tasks and acquiring new skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Willingness to work in an office setting to facilitate collaboration.
- Experience in drainage design for highway/roadway projects, including preparation of plans and specifications, as well as permitting experience.
