Patient Care Associate

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Associate to join our team at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Cape Cod (SRN and SCC). As a Patient Care Associate, you will provide direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Nurse. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Implement patient care plans as directed by Registered Nurses.
- Provide physical care to patients, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, in accordance with established guidelines.
- Assist patients with positioning, lifting, and turning, and use adaptive and transfer equipment as needed.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and blood glucose levels, and perform other monitoring activities as required.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform regular patient rounds and respond promptly to call lights to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Collect and label specimens according to established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to ensure they meet performance expectations.
- Complete additional department, organization, or network activities as required.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required, unless the candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Enrollment in a Nursing, Pre-Med, or Physician Assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire.
- Possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Ability to perform, modify, and record physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
This role requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and other hazardous materials. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing situations.
Physical RequirementsThis role requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift, carry, and move patients and equipment. The successful candidate must be able to work in a variety of environments, including outdoor weather conditions, and be able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
