We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team at Jobot. As a Paralegal, you will assist attorneys in managing probate cases, including estates, trusts, and guardianships.
Responsibilities- Case Management: Assist attorneys in managing probate cases, including estates, trusts, and guardianships.
- Maintain Case Files: Maintain case files and ensure all documentation is up to date and accurate.
- Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and file legal documents such as wills, trusts, petitions, inventories, accountings, and notices.
- Prepare Estate Tax Returns: Prepare estate tax returns and other necessary forms.
- Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and responding to inquiries.
- Gather Information: Gather necessary information and documents from clients and other parties involved.
- Court Filings: File legal documents with the appropriate court systems, both electronically and in person.
- Calendar and Monitor Court Dates: Calendar and monitor court dates and deadlines.
- Research: Conduct legal research on probate laws and procedures.
- Assist in Preparation of Legal Briefs: Assist in the preparation of legal briefs and memoranda.
- Estate Administration: Assist in the administration of estates, including asset identification, valuation, and distribution.
- Coordinate with Professionals: Coordinate with appraisers, accountants, and other professionals.
- Billing and Administrative Duties: Track time and assist with billing for probate matters.
- Perform Administrative Duties: Perform other administrative duties as needed, such as scheduling appointments and managing correspondence.
- Paralegal certification or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in probate or estate planning.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal research and legal software.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
