Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will diagnose, triage, and provide sample psychotropic medications as well as prescriptions for necessary Psychotropic medications. Monitor medications for an ethnically diverse patient population with medical and behavioral health problems.

Provide brief intervention strategies and develop treatment plans for patients. Collaborate and consult with medical providers, mental health staff, and other collaborative partners to ensure effective treatment for patients with behavioral health disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat behavioral health and psychological issues through diagnostic consultation, evaluation, and treatment.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and define the most effective out-patient treatment plan for the client, including referrals for supportive services to effectively support the client's stabilization.
  • Prescribe, follow-up, and monitor the effectiveness and side-effects of prescribed psychotropic medications with select patients.
  • Maintain appropriate medical records documentation on all patients in accordance with organizational policy and agency initiatives, including Meaningful Use and Patient-Centered Medical Home.
  • Actively contribute to the care team by providing coverage to absent providers, being available to support staff, and serving on improvement teams.

Qualifications:

  • Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner possessing unrestricted license for practice in the state of Oregon.
  • Three years' work experience and specialized training in the mental health field.
  • Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and treatment for mental health conditions.
  • Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions and develop appropriate management/treatment plans.
  • Organized, creative, flexible, open-minded, and able to multi-task.
  • Able to work effectively as a team, interfacing with patients, primary care providers, mental health staff, as well as administrative and support staff.
  • Experience working with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations.
  • Experience collaborating with medical and mental health providers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible, organized, and able to be self-directed and committed to the values and mission of the agency.
  • Demonstrate and awareness of, and value for, cultural competency and customer service in the delivery of care.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access software programs.
