UPMC Western Maryland is a voluntary nonprofit medical center featuring 240 Medicare-certified beds, providing acute care in a short-term setting. Nestled in the historic downtown of Cumberland, MD, this facility is a vital part of the Western Maryland Health System.

Case Responsibilities

Case types encompass, but are not limited to, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Neurology, Vascular Surgery, and Obstetrics/Gynecology, utilizing a collaborative care team model.

CRNAs are encouraged to perform regional anesthesia techniques at this location.

Work Shifts

Available shifts include 8, 10, 12, and 24 hours (when applicable). In-house call and beeper call options are available, with opportunities to take on additional shifts.

Team Environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations
  • Secure and/or confirm patient consent
  • Discuss anesthetic choices and associated risks with patients
  • Manage induction, maintenance, and recovery from anesthesia
  • Monitor the physiological status of patients
  • Execute clinical interventions as necessary

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a registered professional nurse
  • Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program
  • Certification or recertification by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
