OBJECTIVE OF THIS ROLE
The objective of this role is to conduct comprehensive assessments and implement a diverse range of therapeutic strategies aimed at the rehabilitation of individuals experiencing challenges with communication, auditory processing, and oral-motor functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibility 1: Conducts thorough assessments, diagnoses, and provides interventions for individuals with communication impairments, auditory processing issues, and oral-motor/swallowing difficulties.
- Responsibility 2: Performs detailed evaluations focusing on both receptive and expressive language capabilities, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor skills, articulation, auditory processing, and swallowing proficiency.
- Responsibility 3: Communicates effectively with patients, their families, referring healthcare providers, and interdisciplinary teams regarding treatment progress, challenges, home care strategies, and other relevant aspects of the therapeutic journey.
- Responsibility 4: Designs, implements, and assesses individualized therapeutic programs and services that enhance communication rehabilitation.
- Responsibility 5: Delivers targeted speech articulation therapy and collaborates with patients to foster language development and improve swallowing capabilities as necessary.
- Responsibility 6: Supports behavior management strategies for patients and their families, providing guidance on parenting techniques as needed.
- Responsibility 7: Diligently maintains accurate records of services rendered to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory documentation standards.
- Responsibility 8: Oversees the maintenance of therapeutic equipment and supplies utilized in the rehabilitation process.
- Responsibility 9: Adheres to safety, environmental, and infection control protocols.
- Responsibility 10: Performs additional job-related tasks as assigned.
- Responsibility 11: Engages in ongoing professional development by attending educational workshops, conferences, visiting relevant facilities, and reviewing current literature as mandated by licensing authorities.
- Responsibility 12: Participates in community outreach activities that promote the rehabilitation department and attends departmental meetings to ensure effective communication regarding organizational updates and progress.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in Communication Disorders or a related field.
- State and national certification in speech-language pathology.
- A valid driver's license is required, and compliance with company vehicle policy is necessary.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented approach.
- Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients.
- Understanding of developmental principles across the lifespan and the ability to assess and interpret patient data to meet individual needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
General:
Occasionally assists patients in mobility and adjusts their positioning for treatment. Frequently travels to provide home-based therapy and navigates within clinical settings to locate and treat patients.
Fine Motor Skills:
Regularly documents patient care and engages in therapeutic activities requiring fine motor coordination.
Verbal Communication:
Frequently communicates treatment plans and evaluations verbally to patients and other professionals.
Auditory Skills:
Relies on auditory feedback to assess speech and language capabilities during evaluations and treatments.
Visual Acuity:
Regularly observes patients to assess their communication abilities and reviews documentation and reports.
Environmental Considerations:
This role may involve exposure to health risks, necessitating adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment.
