Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision and adhering to established protocols, the Radiologic Imaging Specialist will:

  • Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures using appropriate equipment.
  • Confirm patient identity and review medical records to ensure the appropriateness of the exam.
  • Interview patients to gather and verify medical history, assessing any risk factors.
  • Clearly explain procedures to patients, including potential side effects and follow-up care.
  • Prepare imaging equipment and acquire necessary images as per established guidelines.
  • Review and analyze images, documenting any deviations from standard protocols and communicating findings to the radiologist.
  • Respond to medical emergencies as necessary.
  • Provide post-procedure care instructions as prescribed by the physician.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the radiology department.
  • Offer educational support to residents, student technologists, and new staff members.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required by the department.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
  • Completion of American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by the end of the orientation period.
