Job Overview

The Lube Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of light mechanical services on customer and inventory vehicles. This position requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, tools, and repair processes, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle inspections, troubleshooting, and testing to determine required or recommended repairs
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform necessary repairs, including replacing parts and components as required
  • Perform tire services, including rotate, replace, mount, and balance
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, including lubrication, fluid replacements, coolant services, oil change, filter service, and brake adjustments
  • Verify vehicle serviceability and ensure quality repairs the first time by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems as required
  • Communicate with supervisor, team leader, or Service Advisor and/or Dispatcher if additional work is needed
  • Aid Service Advisor as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, and interact with the customer to guarantee customer satisfaction
  • Maintain a clean, efficient work area and assist in keeping the shop neat and organized
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order in accordance with operating procedures
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ASE Certification is preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and repair processes for light mechanical services
  • Outstanding attention to detail with a commitment to quality
  • Ability to use technical reference materials and technical manuals in written and online formats
  • Ability to communicate technical terms to non-technical audience
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize
Work Environment

This position will require the employee to work in an automotive shop environment, with exposure to various weather conditions and safety hazards. The employee will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time and perform tasks that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping, and walking.
