Position Overview:
- This specialized 30-bed unit delivers comprehensive care to patients with primary cardiac conditions, alongside medical patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring. The 4 South Acute/Cardiac unit is supported by a dedicated team of registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians. Clinical educators and advanced practice nurses provide additional support to the staff.
- General Responsibilities: Utilizing the Quality Caring Model, the nurse will demonstrate proficient performance and apply the nursing process to plan and manage care for routine patients. This includes patient and family education, as well as planning for the continuum of care. Effective communication of essential patient and family information to the healthcare team is crucial. The nurse will identify and report any variances from established patient goals and is responsible for coordinating interdisciplinary patient care through the nursing process.
- Licensure & Certification Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; a basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) is preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the Maryland Board of Nursing or a Compact State.
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association; additional life support training may be required based on unit needs.
- Professional specialty certifications may be necessary, depending on departmental standards or role requirements.
- Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Current knowledge of nursing practices and skills.
- Proficiency in computer and audiovisual skills, including internet, email, and word processing applications.
- Ability to retrieve and interpret relevant data.
- Effective communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Strong eye-hand coordination and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and work effectively with individuals and groups.
- Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 35 pounds, push, pull, and move patients and care equipment, and perform bending and kneeling tasks.
- Visual Acuity: Required to have close visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis, transcribing, and extensive reading.
- Auditory Acuity: Must be able to identify auditory alarms in a noisy environment.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to hazards associated with a hospital setting.
