Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst to join our team at the City of Reno. As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for designing and developing geographic information systems databases and applications, performing analytical modeling, and providing technical support to various departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop geospatial databases, web services, applications, and maps
  • Use programming languages such as Python and SQL to optimize data creation and maintenance
  • Develop web and mobile geospatial applications using Esri's ArcGIS Online WebAppBuilder and configurable apps
  • Manage digital map layers and vector and raster data files
  • Perform complex geoprocessing functions, including analytical modeling and visual representations of data
  • Educate City staff on the use of GIS data and applications
  • Maintain data accuracy and publish maps for E911 dispatch and other departments
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, planning, computer science, or a related field
  • Two years of professional experience in developing and implementing a geographic information system
  • Certifications such as GIS Professional (GISP) or Certified Mapping Scientist (CMS) may be substituted for experience
Working Environment

The GIS Analyst will work in a standard office setting with some travel from site to site. The position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and to operate office equipment.
