Physical Therapist Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team at Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to assist with the implementation of the therapy plan of care. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with patient assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and providing education to patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with patient assessments, including data collection and communication of status updates to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Implement the therapy plan of care for assigned patients, including performance of therapy procedures and related tasks delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Progress treatment techniques and procedures as patient status and functional potential change, in conjunction with the specific therapy plan of care designed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Identify, respond, and report to the supervising Physical Therapist any changes in the patient's physical/mental status and/or tolerance to treatment.
- Coordinate treatment programs in conjunction with other clinical/therapeutic services, as well as available community resources, under the direction of the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Provide patient education, including development of comprehensive and progressive home programs with instruction to patients, families, and other caregivers as appropriate to facilitate a safe and effective discharge.
- Prepare for patient discharge, including ordering of/or fabrication and adaptation of necessary equipment, as well as recommendations for therapeutic services ensuring the continuum of care.
- A valid state license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Graduation from an approved school for Physical Therapist Assistants, and having passed a national examination for Physical Therapist Assistants certified by the CAPTE.
- Certified BLS completion required within the first 90 days.
