Position Overview- Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Key Responsibilities: Charge experience is essential. Please note that requests for time off exceeding 5 days will not be accommodated. The role involves working in ICU/PCU Overflow, which may also include assignments in PCU and Med/Surg - Tele patients as this is an overflow unit.
Patient Ratios: 2:1 for ICU, 4-5:1 for PCU. Be prepared to manage higher ratios of 1:6-1:7 if operational needs dictate.
This facility is recognized as a flagship hospital, licensed for 815 beds, and has been acknowledged as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals, reflecting the top 1% of hospitals nationwide for clinical quality. It has also received an A grade from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for its commitment to patient safety and healthcare excellence.
Unit Details: The unit consists of 10 ICU/PCU Overflow beds. Staffing includes a charge nurse and five staff RNs on both day and night shifts.
Equipment Utilized: Familiarity with lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), ventilators, and IV pumps is required.
Documentation System: Cerner
Scheduling Requirements: 12-hour shifts with a requirement for weekend and holiday support.
Floating Policy: Travelers will be expected to float as necessary.
Patient Experience: A bedside shift report is mandatory in all areas, and relief charge nurses are expected to conduct nurse leader rounding.
Required Skills: Candidates must possess medical ICU experience in a large facility, be comfortable with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management, and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Advanced skills in ventilator management, critical care pharmacology, and central line management are essential.
Certifications: BLS and ACLS are required.
Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs are mandatory.
