Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients, administering respiratory care procedures and modalities, and collaborating with other departments to provide education on managing patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive respiratory care to patients, including administering respiratory care procedures and modalities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients and promote a culture of safety.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues and assist physicians with bedside or other procedures as applicable.
  • Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols (PDRPs) as prescribed.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshoot equipment as necessary, and identify the need for service and/or repair.
  • Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
  • Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
Requirements
  • Respiratory Therapist certification (CRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) certification issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Specialist (NPS) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
