Ultrasound Heart Specialist

As a vital member of our healthcare team at Union General Hospital, the Echo Technician plays a crucial role in cardiac diagnostics.
Job Responsibilities- Prepare patients and imaging equipment for echocardiographic procedures.
- Clearly communicate the imaging process to patients to ensure their comfort and understanding.
- Utilize gel to enhance sound transmission on the patient's skin before capturing detailed images of the heart.
- Assist physicians in interpreting echocardiographic data, determining which images are essential for patient records.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of imaging procedures and patient information.
While a specific educational program is not mandated, candidates with a 2-year degree in diagnostic medical sonography from an accredited institution are preferred.
Certificate programs focused on echocardiography are available, typically requiring a related degree for enrollment.
Professional certifications, such as the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer credential from ARDMS, are available and may enhance career prospects and salary potential.
Typically, echo technicians begin with a degree in medical sonography and may later pursue specialization in echocardiography or related fields.
In this role, you will position patients effectively, employ echo technology, and generate comprehensive 2D and 3D images of cardiac structures.
