Job Summary

This position is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role within the Department of Veterans Affairs. The LPN will provide patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and will be responsible for performing various nursing duties, including administering medications, providing wound care, and assisting with medical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician
  • Provide wound care and dressings as needed
  • Assist with medical procedures, such as taking vital signs and preparing patients for exams
  • Document patient information and progress in the medical record
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
  • Full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or District of Columbia
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mental health experience preferred but not required
Working Conditions

This position is in a healthcare setting and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The LPN will be required to stand for long periods, lift patients, and use equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
