Position Overview
As a Maternity Care Registered Nurse at Catholic Health Initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in supporting patients through the labor and delivery journey, prioritizing the well-being of both mother and child with empathy and professionalism.
Your responsibilities will vary within this dynamic department. You may engage in Obstetric triage, assessing patients or conducting evaluations for walk-ins, or you may assist patients during a standard induction and delivery process. Your duties will include closely monitoring the mother's dilation while simultaneously tracking the baby's fetal heart rate, providing updates and emotional support to the patient's partner and family.
To excel in this position, you must understand that no two days are alike. You will experience fulfilling moments as you assist individuals during significant life events, as well as challenging times when providing care and comfort to those in distress. It is essential to remain composed and compassionate, especially in urgent situations. Your calm demeanor will be crucial in managing these scenarios effectively.
About Our Facility
The Labor and Delivery unit at Catholic Health Initiatives is equipped with 16 birthing beds, a 9-bed antepartum unit, and 3 operating rooms, alongside a 7-bed Obstetrical Emergency room. Our dedicated team includes nurses, midwives, Family Medicine practitioners, OB/GYN specialists, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine experts, all committed to caring for patients with both normal and high-risk pregnancies. We manage approximately 3,600 deliveries annually.
Key Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse, you will be tasked with providing exceptional patient care in accordance with the directives of each patient's physician. This will involve leveraging your expertise to educate patients and their families on health maintenance and preventive practices.
Your Duties Will Include:
- Assessing walk-in patients to determine labor status, ruptured membranes, or false alarms.
- Assisting laboring patients with pain management, including induction and epidural support as necessary.
- Informing patients about various procedures, medications, and stages of labor.
- Evaluating and caring for newborns.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team, including anesthesiologists, physicians, midwives, lactation consultants, and nursing staff.
Qualifications

- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of practice.
- At least one year of prior bedside nursing experience.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within five months of hire.
- Additional certifications may be necessary upon employment.
Compensation
Hourly wage: $52.50
