Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our growing hardware and software network infrastructure. As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, and highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, virtual private networks (VPNs), and cybersecurity measures.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement new technologies and solutions to improve network performance and security.
  • Provide primary network support for voice over IP (VOIP) telecommunications systems, including testing call quality and configuring quality of service.
  • Evaluate new technologies and offerings, including dynamic routing protocols, migration to IPv6, and high-speed data movement.
  • Update internal and external documentation, including network diagrams, procedures, and FAQs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field, such as programming, computer science, engineering, or other related degree.
  • At least five years of experience working in a network engineering role or related IT support role.
  • Hands-on experience with basic routing/switching technologies, wireless, VoIP, VPN, SNMP management, and data mirroring.
  • Experience with Linux scripting, IT automation tools, DNS/DHCP management, and migration to IPv6 is a plus.
