POSITION SUMMARY

The role involves assisting hotel guests by managing their check-in and check-out processes, allocating rooms, issuing keys, handling messages, maintaining records of room occupancy and guest accounts, confirming reservations, and processing payments from guests upon departure.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Welcomes, registers, and assigns accommodations to guests.
  • Maintains records of room availability and guest accounts, either manually or via computer systems. Prepares rental agreements, ensuring customer signatures and necessary identification are obtained.
  • Issues room keys and provides instructions to bell staff.
  • Handles incoming messages and communications through telephone systems.
  • Sorts and organizes incoming mail and messages.
  • May assist in making and confirming reservations.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding hotel amenities, guest registration, and local shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel information.
  • Safeguards guest valuables in hotel safes or assists guests in securing their belongings.
  • Records charges for services such as lodging, dining, beverages, or phone calls in ledgers, either manually or digitally. Calculates bills, collects payments, and provides change as necessary.
  • Collects deposits or payments, or documents credit transactions.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or equivalent educational background (GED); or one year of relevant experience and/or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, brief correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing basic correspondence. Proficient in presenting information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, clients, and fellow employees.


MATH SKILLS

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Capable of calculating rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpreting bar graphs. Proficient in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Familiarity with basic algebra and geometry concepts.


PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Capable of addressing issues involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations. Proficient in solving practical problems and managing various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Able to interpret a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.

Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
