Speech Language Pathologist Job Description

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a critical role in providing speech therapy services to designated students, helping them achieve their speech therapy goals and improve their overall communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement individualized speech therapy programs for each student, based on treatment plan goals developed in partnership with educators and parents.
  • Monitor services and provide progress information to enable each student to develop their personal goals, preferences, and needs.
  • Employ speech therapy strategies and techniques during each session to improve the development of speech and communication skills, receptive and expressive language, cognition, and memory, while meeting the individual age-appropriate needs of each child in their natural environment.
  • Write periodic reviews on students' progress, update treatment teams, and make any necessary changes to service for assigned children.
  • Manage case records according to agency policy and state regulations and familiarize yourself with each child's record.
  • Maintain and compile authorized written session documentation and complete accurate billing session documentation within 24 hours of client visit.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with families regarding scheduling sessions and make-up sessions.
  • Communicate any activities necessary to implement carryover of speech and communication goals and overall development of students with parents and related service providers.
  • Conduct and/or oversee clinical assessments and treatment program recommendations and manage the implementation to ensure best clinical practices are always implemented.
  • Ensure initial client intakes are conducted in a timely manner, treatment programs are evaluated regularly, and clinical performance goals are achieved.
  • Improve clinical quality standards by conducting employee training sessions, sharing clinical knowledge, and offering counsel to the clinical team.
  • Collaborate and build rapport with clients and families to improve the likelihood of best possible outcomes.
  • Provide supervision and support to clients and caregivers as needed and periodically travel to various locations (e.g., homes and community) as part of the oversight of clients' treatment programs.
  • Partner with other professionals such as social workers, speech, occupational, physical therapists, physiotherapists, and educational psychologists; and participate in team meetings and/or conferences as indicated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in speech pathology or a closely related field.
  • Hold currently, or have the ability to obtain, a state speech language pathology (SLP) license.
  • Prior experience working with students with diverse needs in an educational setting and proven success in developing and implementing effective treatment plans.
  • Advanced motivational, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication.
  • Well-versed in the use of relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
