Pharmacist Position

This position is located within the US Department of Health and Human Services, in the Pharmacy Department of a Hospital or Health Center in the Billings Area Indian Health Service.

• Select, procure, prepare, and dispense medications according to prescription and medical guidelines.
• Properly interpret prescriptions and review patient medical records for safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of drug therapy.
• Alert medical staff to any prescription or dosage that could be harmful to patients.
• Counsel patients on the use, storage, cautions, and side effects of all medications dispensed.
• Interview patients to ascertain past medical and medication history.
• Participate in facility initiatives, attend meetings, conduct authorized outpatient clinics, document clinical activities, and provide pharmaceutical services to focus on therapeutic drug monitoring.
• Collaborate with other health professionals to develop treatment protocols, standards of practice, and policies.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Measles and Rubella immunization is required for selectees born after 1957.
• Seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service healthcare facilities.
• COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty.
