POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Medical Provider delivers comprehensive primary care and oversees mid-level practitioners and clinical support personnel. This role involves providing ongoing health maintenance and medical services to families, addressing a wide range of health issues across all demographics. The physician will practice medicine by diagnosing and treating various conditions, performing minor surgical procedures, conducting physical examinations, and offering patient counseling and education. Additionally, the role includes supervising mid-level providers and training staff, while also engaging in community outreach initiatives. Care is delivered in a culturally diverse environment, suitable for an outpatient community health center.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Duties:
1. Conducts in-service training for staff on relevant topics as identified by the CMO.
2. Gathers and reviews patient medical histories through interviews.
3. Maintains accurate, confidential medical records for each patient visit in line with established protocols.
4. Codes encounter forms based on visit duration, procedures performed, and relevant ICD-9 codes.
5. Participates in internal quality control assessments.
6. Engages in peer review processes.
7. Provides oversight for case assignments to mid-level providers, including chart approvals.
8. Supervises medical assistants and laboratory staff in support of patient care.
9. Attends and contributes to meetings, workshops, and committees as required by DAP Health.
10. Adheres to DAP Health's standards of care and all relevant policies and procedures.
11. Follows DAP Health's customer service standards.
12. Engages in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.
13. Complies with attendance and punctuality policies.
14. Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned by the CMO.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Delivers high-quality medical care to patients, adhering to legal and organizational standards.
2. Achieves productivity targets as established.
3. Participates in after-hours on-call duties as scheduled.
4. Develops comprehensive health programs for families, focusing on preventive care, behavioral health, and community wellness.
5. Conducts patient examinations, formulates diagnostic plans, and orders necessary tests.
6. Analyzes examination findings and test results to implement treatment strategies.
7. Identifies the need for specialist consultations and coordinates care accordingly.
8. Follows established protocols for patient referrals to specialty care.
9. Educates patients on their care and treatment options, supervising medical support staff as needed.
10. Ensures that all patients are seen and treated appropriately before leaving the clinic.
11. Meets clinical performance metrics as defined by DAP Health.
12. Contributes to the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) initiative, enhancing the patient-provider relationship and promoting coordinated, culturally sensitive care.
