Job Summary

SOLVD Health is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Associate to join our team. As a Laboratory Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting our clinical laboratory operations, ensuring the highest quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, presort, unpack, and test orders of specimens, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Enter required information into the Laboratory Information System, maintaining accurate records and data.
  • Prepare and store specimens for processing, adhering to strict quality control and quality assurance protocols.
  • Identify and document problems, resolving issues with specimen types, missing information, and other laboratory-related concerns.
  • Interact with clients in a professional manner, providing exceptional customer service and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, unpacking, logging, dating, storing, and restocking laboratory consumables and supplies.
  • Perform and document quality control and quality assurance activities, including instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance.
  • Prepare testing equipment and assist with preventative maintenance, notifying technical staff of any equipment issues or concerns.
  • Complete training and competency on all assigned tasks, including instrumentation and equipment.
  • Assist licensed personnel with performance of validation/verifications and other activities as applicable.
  • Adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures for employee health and safety, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hazardous/chemical waste disposal, Emergency Response, and IT Security.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science preferred.
  • Prior work experience in a clinical laboratory certified under CLIA; CAP and NYDOH accredited laboratory experience preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and understand documents, including policies, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively one-to-one and in a group environment.
  • Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measurement.
  • Ability to use common sense understanding and problem solve in variable situations.

Work Environment
