- Provide range of motion exercises and assist with patient positioning.
- Help with self-administered medications as permitted by state regulations.
- Offer assistance with personal hygiene needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the patient's living area.
- Adhere to documentation standards and organizational procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team activities.
- Respect the personal environment and needs of patients and their families.
- Completion of state training requirements.
- At least 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training, with a minimum of 16 hours of classroom training before practical experience.
- A minimum of six months of experience in providing personal care.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to read, follow instructions, and document care provided.
- Understanding of hospice care philosophy and comfort in providing care to terminally ill patients.
- Positive references from previous employers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable with issues surrounding death and dying.
- Maintain a calm demeanor in patient homes.
- Current CPR certification is required.
- Exhibit patience, tact, and good personal hygiene.
- Successful completion of a probationary period to ensure competency in required skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
