General Overview

In a supportive environment, the educator will guide students through courses in biological sciences, including both theoretical and practical components. This role involves collaborating with students and fulfilling various administrative responsibilities. The educator will report to the Department Chair of Science.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging instruction in assigned biological science courses.

Handle administrative tasks such as evaluating educational materials; crafting lesson plans, course outlines, and assessments; sourcing class resources; developing online course content; conducting classes; providing constructive feedback on student assignments; grading; and maintaining student records.

Prepare and submit necessary reports related to courses, including grade and attendance documentation.

Facilitate laboratory sessions for students.

Responsibilities include preparing laboratory exercises, managing lab specimens, conducting experiments, organizing lab assessments, and ensuring cleanliness and safety in the lab environment.

Maintain an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment; order materials as required and coordinate repairs as necessary.

Assist students with various needs, including academic advising, registration support, career counseling, and writing recommendation letters.

Complete student-related forms such as withdrawals and registration adjustments.

Engage in professional development activities.

Stay informed about the latest research and advancements in the field of biological sciences by reading scholarly articles and attending relevant workshops and conferences.

Process and manage a variety of documentation, including attendance records, grade sheets, evaluation forms, and other correspondence.

Utilize and maintain various types of equipment and supplies, including computers, calculators, and laboratory apparatus.


Qualifications

A Master's degree in anatomy, physiology, biology, or a related field, with at least 18 graduate hours in anatomy and physiology, along with one to two years of teaching or clinical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge.


Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to operate various office and laboratory equipment, including computers and lab tools. The educator must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to forty pounds and performing physical tasks such as walking, standing, and reaching for extended periods.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills are essential for conveying information effectively to students and colleagues.

Language Proficiency: The ability to read and prepare various academic documents, including lesson plans and reports, is required.

Numerical Skills: Proficiency in basic mathematical operations and the ability to apply statistical principles is necessary.
