We are seeking a High Voltage Substation Design Engineer to join our team in Atlanta, GA. As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing high voltage utility substation projects.
About This Role:- This role involves conceptual and detailed HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for medium to large scale utilities/substations.
- You will perform advanced engineering studies and calculations, as well as quality control reviews on medium to large substation physical design projects.
- Your responsibilities will also include creating and reviewing bill of materials for substation physical projects, developing and reviewing proposals, and scopes of work for substation physical projects.
- You will develop and provide advanced technical presentations to the team to assist with staff technical development, be involved in client interaction (including site visits) with a drive for customer satisfaction, and provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related field with eight (8+) plus years of Substation physical design experience.
- Leadership experience in executing substation projects.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients to meet project needs.
- The ability to lead bids and proposal effort for utility clients.
- The ability to perform quality control checks on substation design projects.
- A proven track record in reading and designing substation physical drawings, such as one-line drawings, three-line drawings, plan-section drawings, foundation, grounding drawings.
- The ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings, such as one-line drawings, three-line drawings, AC/DC schematic drawings and wiring design.
- The ability to create and check bill of materials for substation physical projects.
- A strong understanding of grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies.
- The ability to attend site visit at customer location.
