Pediatric Medical Assistant Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Medical Assistant Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient care and support in an outpatient setting.
About the RoleThe Pediatric Medical Assistant Specialist will work under the direction of a healthcare provider to perform various clinical duties, including preparing patients, collecting and reviewing pertinent information, performing technical tasks, documenting in the electronic medical record, and maintaining a safe environment for patients.
You will also provide administrative and clerical support, including patient scheduling, filing reports, and following up on documentation, phone calls, and billing inquiries.
Responsibilities- Obtain and document patient information, including reason for visit, weight, vital signs, visit screening information, medication review, and pertinent details for the provider.
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked.
- Assist patients as needed to prepare for their visit with the provider, taking necessary measures to ensure their safety and privacy.
- Provide direct patient care as directed by the provider, based on competency and clinic needs, such as performing EKGs, wound dressings, and supporting minor surgical procedures and ancillary examinations.
- Prepare and administer medications according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
- Complete patient tests and treatments per provider's order, following policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, completing associated paperwork accurately and efficiently to expedite laboratory studies.
- Perform phlebotomy and assist in specific laboratory functions related to testing, reporting, and quality assurance of laboratory specimens, as educated and overseen by the laboratory.
- Support receptionist and clerical duties, facilitating timely appointments for patients, completing referrals and pre-authorizations as needed, collecting co-payments, and assisting with new personnel orientation.
- Communicate with patients, prioritizing communications to the provider, responding to patient questions and requests, and reinforcing patient education as directed by the provider.
- Inventory medical/surgical supplies and pharmaceuticals non-controlled substances only, ensuring adequate supply levels, verifying expiration dates, documenting utilization, optimizing organizational efficiency, and space utilization.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
- Graduate from Specialty Training Program preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year-related work experience preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assist (RMA) required.
