Job Summary:

The Swim Instructor and Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons and students in and around the pool area and preventing and responding to emergencies. This role requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and upholding the highest standards of aquatic safety and swim education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pool Safety and Surveillance: Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area, act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of customers in the event of an emergency, and provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Incident Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain appropriate incident reports, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of all incidents and near-misses.
  • Customer Service and Relations: Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times, maintain a high standard of customer service, and ensure a positive experience for all patrons and students.
  • Facility Maintenance and Operations: Perform various duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility, including pool maintenance, equipment checks, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Compliance and Certification: Maintain Red Cross Lifeguard certification, Red Cross CPR/AED certification for adult, infant, and swimmer, and adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent, and current Red Cross Lifeguard certification, Red Cross CPR/AED certification for adult, infant, and swimmer.
  • Experience and Skills: Previous swim instruction experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75lbs, and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities and tasks.

Working Conditions:

This role requires working in a pool environment with frequent exposure to water, heat, and humidity. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities and tasks is essential.
