Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team at Brattleboro Retreat. As a Painter, you will be responsible for applying and maintaining wall finishes, including repair to sub-surfaces, finish walls, and ceilings. You will also provide maintenance and preventative maintenance as part of our standard maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply and maintain wall finishes, including repair to sub-surfaces, finish walls, and ceilings.
  • Provide maintenance and preventative maintenance as part of our standard maintenance programs.
  • Repair wall surfaces, including plaster, sheetrock, and wood.
  • Lay out and cut and install wall covering in a professional manner using vinyl, cellulose, and general purpose adhesives.
  • Glaze and repair windows and window screens of both wood and metal sash.
  • Assist Electrical/Fire Safety Coordinator in the completion and documentation of preventative maintenance inspections on Life Safety equipment.
  • Generate material lists and recommend or request purchase of supplies for small projects.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of supplies and develop orders for replacement items as necessary.
  • Provide estimates for damages due to vandalism.
  • Perform minor maintenance and preventative maintenance work on buildings.
  • Assist with office and furniture moves, as well as snow and ice control.
  • Inspect and maintain all tools in good clean working condition and return them to appropriate storage location upon completion of job or end of shift.
  • Ensure all tools are safe for use and report damaged, lost, or broken tools.
  • Maintain a safe work environment through knowledge of body mechanics, personal protective equipment, MSDS, environment hazards, and emergency job procedures.
  • Work weekends, on rotation, providing routine maintenance, emergency response, and scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Complete daily building and preventative maintenance checks, work orders, and associated documentation in a timely, legible manner.
Requirements
  • High school equivalent and minimum one year experience as a wallpaper/painter.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe, clean driving record for the past three years.
