Job Title: Park Maintenance Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Park Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the City of Mesquite, TX. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our aquatic facilities, including swimming pools, water features, and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair swimming pools, water features, and related equipment, including pumps, filters, and mechanical components.
  • Test and adjust water chemistry to meet standards for oxidation and sanitation.
  • Clean and backwash filters, and maintain and interpret operational and re-circulation efficiency of various filters.
  • Perform routine mechanical operation checks at all aquatic facilities and complete daily chemical usage, water quality, and maintenance reports.
  • Participate in inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical difficulties on park equipment, including irrigation systems, playground equipment, athletic lighting, and scoreboards.
  • Maintain the park irrigation systems, set irrigation clocks and controls, and perform minor repairs, including replacing broken heads and repairing minor breaks in the water lines.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of pool maintenance experience, including plumbing, electrical, and water treatment, preferred.
  • Two years' experience in one or more of the building maintenance trades, with experience in park-related maintenance and repair, preferred.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License required.
  • Able to obtain a CPO (Certified Pool Operator) Certificate within six months of hire.
