The Registered Nurse Risk Manager is a critical role within the Veterans Health Administration, responsible for coordinating and managing the Risk Management Program across the healthcare system. Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement risk management programs to minimize adverse risk to patients, personnel, and visitors
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives
- Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
- At least 2 years of specialized nursing experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on risk management and quality improvement
- Demonstrated experience in leading or participating in healthcare quality activities, such as performance improvement, PDSA/systems redesign, and RCA
- Knowledge and understanding of safety science and safety culture, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a healthcare setting
- Leadership experience, including public speaking, public writing, and serving as a change agent
