Position Overview:
Primo Water Corporation is in search of a dedicated Environmental Organic Chemist to join our team. This role is essential for our operations and will focus on utilizing advanced analytical techniques in our laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct extraction and analysis of bottled water samples for PFAS compounds using state-of-the-art Triple Quadrupole LC/MS technology.
- Implement and adhere to EPA methodologies (EPA 533 & EPA 537.1) for PFAS testing, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Act as a secondary resource for EPA 524.2 & EPA 525.2 methods related to VOCs and pesticide testing.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for sample tracking and data management.
- Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Follow established protocols and standard operating procedures to maintain quality and accuracy in testing.
- Perform troubleshooting and routine maintenance on laboratory instruments.
- Document all data meticulously in logbooks and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Work autonomously while reporting to the Director/Senior Organic Chemist.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or a related physical science.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in an environmental laboratory setting, particularly in organic extractions and analyses.
- Proficiency with LC/MS and GC/MS instrumentation is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with PFAS EPA methods and extraction techniques is essential.
- Experience with LIMS and other analytical software.
- Understanding of Mass Spectrometry principles and best practices in an environmental laboratory context.
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry standards, including EPA Drinking Water Regulations and the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).
- Awareness of EPA quality assurance protocols and NELAP compliance requirements.
- Ability to maintain Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in the lab environment.
- Self-motivated with strong critical thinking skills.
- Capable of multitasking and assisting team members with various GC/MS techniques.
- Flexible in performing a range of laboratory tasks.
Compensation:
The salary for this position ranges from $79,000 to $83,000, commensurate with experience and expertise in LC/MS and GC/MS methodologies.
